A- Turkey today is ruled by, what many consider an Islamic party. It has, apparently an Islamist as president and an Islamist as prime minister. Due to this the Turkish model of governance has gained much publicity and notoriety. This model of governance has been praised by many a Western politician and secularist who believe the fusion of some Islamic rules with secularism is something the West can work with and would like to see across the Muslim lands. Interestingly within the Muslim world the only model Turkey is known for is the Khilafah which turned the Ottomans – a band of fighters into the world's superpower. In analysing the claim that the AKP represents an Islamic model of governance an examination of its key polices highlights that Islam has played no role in any of the AKP's policies other than the rhetoric fed to the masses. The economy and foreign policy have been the main symbols of the AKP, both are driven by factors other than Islam. In order to shore up support for the AKP Erdogan developed economic policies to bring money into Turkey whilst enriching the business elite. Islam forbids this and would in fact move away from a Western styled system of enriching the elite towards a system of wealth distribution. Similarly Islam has played virtually no role in Turkey's foreign policy. The most obvious example of this is Erdogan's continuation of Turkish relations with Israel which is something Islam expressly prohibits. The AKP has not used Islam in any way in its foreign policy. Rather than rallying the Muslim rulers against Israel (something Salaudin al-Ayoubi did) or even ending the occupation of Al Quds itself – which Turkey is capable of, Erdogan has pursued a narrow set of pragmatic polices and littered them with Islamic statements. In the second year of the Hijrah, Madinah, the city of the Messenger of Allah saww, was buzzing with activity as the Muslims were preparing for the long march southwards to Badr for Jihad. The whole atmosphere in the society was based on Islam, not like today where the whole atmosphere is dominated by organised distractions like football, where the majority of discussion in the media and society surrounds a game where twenty-two people kick a leather ball around a pitch. Today the atmosphere in the non-Muslim and Muslim world is generated around shallow activities. Pop concerts, Olympics,football tournaments and the like are promoted in the media to the extent that people come to know every detail and strategy as if they were studying a war. In the past under the Islamic rule, under the Khilafah, the atmosphere was dominated by Islam, the major events of the society were not who is playing who in the next match, rather it was Jihad, which land are we going to bring under the authority ofIslam next? The noble Messenger of Allah saww made a final inspection of the first army to be mobilized under his leadership to wage Jihad against those who had tormented the Muslims for many years and who were still bent on putting an end to his mission. A youth, not yet thirteen, walked up to the ranks. He was confident and alert. He held a sword that was as long or possibly slightly longer than his own height. He went up to the Messenger of Allah saww and said, "I dedicate myself to you, Messenger ofAllah. Permit me to be with you and to fight the enemies ofAllah under your banner." The noble Messenger of Allah looked at him with admiration and patted his shoulder with loving tenderness. He commended him for his courage but refused to enlist him because he was still too young. The youth, Zaid ibn Thabit , turned and walked away, dejected and sad. Zaid ibn Thabit knowing that he was too young to join the armed forces still wanted to aid the Messenger of Allah and be close to him, so he turned his mind to gaining knowledge and memorising the Qur'an. The Messenger ofAllah then set him a task that required intelligence, skill and persistence. "Zaid,learn the writing of the Jews for me." instructed the Messenger ofAllah . "At your command,Messenger ofAllah," replied Zaid who set about learning Hebrew with enthusiasm. He became quite proficient in the language and wrote it for the Messenger of Allah when he wanted to communicate with the Jews. Zaid also read and translated from Hebrew when the Jews wrote to the Messenger of Allah .The Messenger of Allah instructed him to learn Syriac also and this he did. Zaid thus came to perform the important function of an interpreter for the Messenger of Allah in his dealings with non Arabic speaking peoples. Zaid's enthusiasm and skill were obvious. Von den "Islamkritikern" und auch evangelikalen Christen hört man immer wieder, dass Allah ein "Mondgott" sein soll. So sieht z.B. der US-Prediger Pat Roberson eine weltweite Auseinandersetzung zwischen "Hubal, dem Mondgott von Mekka und bekannt als Allah ... und dem jüdisch-christlichen Jehova Gott". Auch in den Massenmedien hierzulande wird immer wieder der Eindruck erweckt, dass es sich bei Allah um einen anderen Gott wie den der Christen, wenn nicht um einen Götzen, handelt. Der ehrwürdige Gesandte Allahs (saws) selbst war nicht der Meinung, dass er einen anderen Gott als den der Christen verkünden würde: "Und sprecht [zu den Schriftbesitzern]: Wir glauben an das, was zu uns herabgesandt wurde und was zu euch herabgesandt wurde. Unser Gott und euer Gott ist ein- und derselbe." (Sure 29,46) Im Quran wird an zahlreichen Stellen deutlich, dass Allah der Gott von Abraham (Ibrahim), Moses (Musa) und Jesus (Isa) ist. Der Hamburger Professor Gernot Rotter hat deutlich gemacht, dass "Allah schließlich nichts anderes als Gott bedeutet und dass die Christen im Nahen Osten, die schon vor dem Auftreten des Islams dort lebten, Gott eben auch nur als Allah kannten und kennen". (Rotter, Allahs Plagiator, S. 13) Interessant ist in diesem Zusammenhang auch ein Blick auf die kleine Mittelmeerinsel Malta, wo eine fast ausschließlich katholische Bevölkerung eine einzigartige, auf dem Arabischen basierende Sprache spricht: Die Malteser sprechen von Gott als "Alla". Für viele Christen dürfte es auch überraschend sein, wenn sie erfahren, dass Jesus (Isa) Gott mit "Alaha" bezeichnet hat, denn Jesus (Isa) sprach Aramäisch. Dies zeigt aber auch wieder die enge Verwandtschaft der drei "Abrahamreligionen". Gott heißt auf Hebräisch "Eloha", auf Aramäisch "Alaha" und auf Arabisch "Allah" - gemeint ist der Eine Gott: "Es ist kein Gott außer Allah (keiner hat das Recht, angebetet zu werden, außer Allah, der Eine und Einzige wahre Gott, der weder eine Frau noch einen Sohn hat), und Allah Er ist wahrlich der Allmächtige, der Allweise." (Quran 3:62) Er ist der Allmächtige, der Ewige, der am Anfang aller Dinge steht und kein Ende hat. Sein sind die schönsten Namen. Am Anfang jeder Sure im Koran offenbart er sich als der Allerbarmer; er ist der "Barmherzigste aller Barmherzigen". Fragt sich, wer hier tatsächlich der Sofastratege ist. Warum bringt Todenhöfer nicht ein Buch mit dem Titel "Ihr hättet mit Hitler verhandeln müssen" heraus. Vor dem Hintergrund der nun auch im Westen, endlich in die Medien gelangten ungeschönten Berichte und Bilder der Folter- und Tötungsmaschinerie des Assad-Regimes, klingen die Worte Todenhöfers wie eine Unterscheidung in wertes und unwertes Leben, um eines scheinheiligen Pazifismus willen. Wer hat ihn dazu berufen? Jeder Tag den Assad und sein Regime länger an der Macht sind, kostet unzählige Menschen das Leben. Genau jetzt, in diesem Augenblick leiden Menschen Höllenqualen unter brutalster Folter und sterben in den Kerkern des Regimes. Aber anscheinend sind diese Menschen einem Jürgen Todenhöfer egal. Aus seiner Sicht vielleicht der Preis für eine "saubere, politische" Lösung? Anscheinend fühlt er sich berufen, die Opfer des Regimes einfach unter den Teppich zu kehren. Was auffällt ist, dass noch vier Wochen die Anzahl der ISIS-Kämpfer mit 12-15.000 angegeben wurde. Nun sind es plötzlich 25.000?
